On the way to the dock, I stopped in the store to fix my
caffeine addiction. It was a beautiful day on the water
so I asked the storekeeper if he was doing any boating.
He said that he wasn't yet but that his wife had promised
to buy him a boat this year (if he's good.)
He said she was going to buy him just one oar at first.
I suppose she thinks if he rows in circles, he'll always
be within calling distance. I'm skeptical about that
arrangement. Surely, once he's launched, he'll figure
out how to paddle the boat like a canoe and be all over
the bay. In any case, I hope it happens before he has
to dodge ice floes. These days are just too precious to miss.
